Petronella Hercelina Maria
(Nel):
On 24 May 2023, peacefully at Atawhai Assisi Home, Hamilton; aged 98 years. Devoted wife of the late Eduard. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Els & Lou Brown, Miep & John Carstensen, Eddie, Hans & Gaylene, Lillian & Tony Martin, and Michael & Marja. Loving Oma of Tanja, Aaron, Madeleine, Alice, Ursala, Nadine, Eli, Heather, Rebecca, and Samuel, and her 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Grateful thanks to all the staff at Atawhai Assisi who have cared for Nel. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the Atawhai Assisi Chapel, 158 Matangi Road, Tamahere, Hamilton, on Saturday 27 May 2023 at 11am. Followed by burial in the Oak Lawn of Hamilton Park Cemetery.

Wonderful memories Mrs De Leeuw (I always called addressed Mrs D that, nothing else...true gentle people like you and Mr De Leeuw deserved no less) and your wonderful husband. My time spent cleaning for you were precious. Sadly life got in the way and I didn't get to say goodbye and how much you both meant to me. So sorry to hear but what an amazing life your mum had. I remember loving the Dutch food particularly the sausages in gravy and chocolate hail on the sandwiches. Many years after high school shenanigans, i remember meeting your mum and dad in an immigration queue in Honolulu. It was so lovely to see them. Big hugs to you all, Bernadette.
