On 12 December 2019, aged 87. Loving husband of the late Barbara Anne Kingsbury (nee Stephens). Loved father and father-in-law of Benedict William Kingsbury and Vivian S. Lee, Anna Frances Kingsbury and John Robert Duncan, Jonathan Johnson Kingsbury, Lesley Holst, Vivienne Loloma Jeannette Kingsbury, Derek James Moana Kingsbury and Jackie Smith. Loving grandfather of Justin and Vendela, Sophia, William, Annelisa, Mira-Rose, Sophie-An, Kiri-Anna, and Logan. Much loved son of the late Ray and the late Frances (Tops) Kingsbury of Hook, Waimate.

A celebration of Norman's life will be held at Seddon Park Funeral Home Chapel, Cnr Seddon Road & Somerset Street, Hamilton, on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 10.30am, followed by private cremation. A true gentleman and community servant who was part of an elite group of dedicated founding members of University of Waikato. His intellect, passion to do good and empathy for his fellow man knew no bounds.
I was privileged to witness the passion and commitment of the University team as my father was one of them. All were committed to creating equity of opportunity through education and indigenous values. Norman and Barbara were amazing family role models. RIP.

I arrived at Waikato University in 1985 in the Sociology Department and the University was still small enough then for everyone to know each other's names. Norman was a legend and an institution at Waikato in his own right. I remember him with respect. Condolences to the Kingsbury family.

Norman's mind, kindness, humour and wisdom reflected his great soul. He has influenced my philospohy, and for my late parents Jean and Leigh, Norman expanded their view and understanding of the world. A gentleman who leaves the world a better place. Our love to you all. Howard & the Vickridges.

My sympathy to the entire Kingsbury clan. While Norman may be gone from the physical plane, he will live on forever your/our hearts. I praise God knowing that he once more shares a couch with his wife Barbara - albeit, this time in heaven.
