Today, as you farewelled your beloved Martin, we were in Wellington launching a cd album of The First Smile gamelan. We listened to Kasturun -- a traditional piece said to be sent by heavenly creatures, angels or the like. Just this year Martin had been hoping to compose a piece for The First Smile, but time ran out and the ketuk / metronome stopped. We will think of him each time we play Kasturun.

We were in some classes together as undergraduates at Waikato. A marvellous person and brilliant scholar.
