Martha Lauderdale Obituary

Martha Patricia Lauderdale (Marty), 83, passed away on July 12, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on May 7, 1942, in Langdale, Alabama, to Clarence and Rebecca Lauderdale. Marty was strong-willed, fiercely independent, and devoted to those she loved. She built a long and respected career as a medical transcriptionist, working with many doctors and at the Lanier Hospital in Lanett, Alabama. She was also a talented pianist and a faithful servant in her church. Marty sang in choirs, played piano for services, and could always be counted on to provide food whenever asked. Her generosity and presence were felt by many over the years. In addition to her servant heart, Marty had a deep love for children and helped raise many throughout her life. Whether through family, church, or community, she offered guidance, an open heart, and a safe place for the young ones in her care. Her nurturing spirit left a lasting imprint on every child she touched. Marty was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Lauderdale; her mother, Rebecca Lauderdale; and her sister, Maxine Wickham (Donald). She is survived by her beloved nieces, Alison Pecoul (Will) and Cristen Bozeman (Brian), and her grand-niece, Sydney Flowers (Bobby), and grand-nephew, John Pecoul, who held a special place in her heart. She will be remembered for her resilience, her unwavering independence, and her enduring faith. A celebration of life will be held on August 2 @ 3 pm at The Lanett Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Lanett Senior Citizens Center, 1302 Cherry Drive, Lanett, AL 36863, or her church, Lanett Church of the Nazarene, 1306 S. I was longtime friend of Martha´s ; we attended Valley High Valley High School at the same time, and later she attended Lanett Nazarene Church when my husband was the interim pastor for almost a year. From her youth until her eighties, she was a devoted Christian , a wonderful friend , and a most independent lady indeed . She lived with bravery, determination, and grace. She will be missed . I have been taking care of Mrs Martha's hair for several years now. I got to see her every Friday morning. She was a beautiful, intelligent lady. She will be missed by all of the ladies at the beauty shop.
