To the family of Jean Bodmin. Dad- Brian Bayliss noticed Jean´s death notice in the paper. We were reminiscing over how well we know her name, as she was so often in- Mum- Raewyn´s conversions. Mum would talk about the amazing work she did & the support she gave Mum (who passed in 2020). What an era of dedicated women. Condolences to you all.

Happy memories of a long friendship. As Barbara Excell I joined Hamilton High School in 1944 and became Jean's friend and academic competitor. In the 1970s Jean visited London, joined a Hamilton High Scool reunion lunch. The friendship resumed with her visits to London, our visits to Jean and Bevin in Morrinsville, Taupo and Katikati. I was proud of her 1985 award of the Queen's Service Medal for public service.
