Leon RILEY Obituary
Passed away peacefully after a few weeks of declining health at Summerset Down The Lane, aged 92 years. Much loved husband of the late Patricia. Father and father-in-law of Helen, Denis & Sandie, Paula & Henry. Much loved grandad of 8, great-grandad of 15 and great-great-grandad of 3.

A celebration of Leon's life will be held at Woolertons Funeral Home Chapel, 8 Railside Place, Dinsdale, Hamilton, on Thursday 29th June 2023 at 1.00pm. Waikato Bays Judo Association

It is with great sadness the Waikato Bays Judo Association acknowledges the passing of Leon Riley. He was a tremendous contributor to the Judo community via Henkada Judo Club and the Waikato Bays Judo Association and for his services was awarded a Judo NZ Order of Merit in 1999. Leon was a life member of both Henkada Judo Club and the Waikato Bays Judo Association having served in many formal and informal roles. Leon achieved a Black belt grade of San Dan (3rd degree black belt) and is held in high regard by his Judo community. Rest in Peace Leon.

Leon was a person I enjoyed having conversations with. Someone whom I admired and whose opinion I respected. He was a great mentor in my Judo days. I knew Leon primarily through the sport of Judo, over many decades. One of humanities great, quiet, efficient people.
