Passed away peacefully on January 15, 2022. Loved father of Brig, Maria, Bertus and Dineke. Special grandad and great-grandad to many. A service for John will be held at Seddon Park Funeral Home Chapel, Cnr Seddon Road & Somerset Street, Hamilton, on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 1.30pm followed by private cremation. Dear cousins Brig, Maria, Bertus and Dineke, our sincere condolences on the passing of your dad John van Ommeren. He was late my mothers´ favorite brother. On my birth she nominated him to my Godfather and late tante Annie Posthumus-Van Ommeren to my Godmother.
Oom Johan visited the family in The Netherlands several times. And each visit he took one of you with him and also children of yours. In 1986 he and Brigitte and two children of her visited us in Julianadorp. Our youngest son Jarl was some months old at that time. I found some pictures of this visit, including a picture of late my father, uncle Siebe Ydema, who drove them from Dronten to our home in Julianadorp. Maybe some of you remember the names of these villages and perhaps also remember some of us.
I wish you all the best and I hope to see or speak you. Who knows how, maybe telephone, see you or chat digitally.
