Joan LEAHY Obituary

Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, 5 October 2025. Loved wife of Patrick for 69 years and 9 months. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Maurice, Edmond & Janet, Mary-Anne, and Eileen (deceased) & Greg Tollan. Loved nana to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loved sister of James & Maura, Timmy Joe (deceased) & Hannah Mai, and Andy (deceased) & Margaret.
Loved aunty to all her nieces and nephews in Ireland. A Rosary for Joan will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Whitaker St, Te Aroha, on Thursday, 9 October 2025, at 6.00pm. The service to celebrate Joan's life will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Whitaker St, Te Aroha, on Friday, 10 October 2025 at 11.00am, followed by burial in the Te Aroha Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed, please refer to funeralhome.co.nz. All communications to the Leahy family, c/- 10 Short St, Matamata.

Condolences to Paddy and all the Leahy and Scanlon families on the sad passing of Tessie. I visited while backpacking in NZ in 2006. My plans were to stay a night at the most but I was still there 5 days later such was Tessie's warm welcome. May she RIP

Our deepest sympathies to Tessies's husband Paddy, her children Maurice, Edmond and Mary-Anne and her brother James on her recent passing. We have very fond memories of our visit to New Zealand in 2017 and her hospitality and kindness during our stay. Our condolences also to the Leahy and Scanlon families and to Tessie 's grandchildren who often visit us here in Brosna. Thinking of you all at this time. May Tessie rest in peace .
