Joan Harris taught me to love History and to strive for excellence. She challenged me as no other teacher did, never letting me settle for less than I was capable of.
She quoted Virgil in my autograph book - 'Felix qui potuit rerum cognoscere causas.' (Happy he/she who is able to understand the causes of things.)
She changed my life - I studied History at university and eventually married my favourite History lecturer.
I was thinking of her the other day, wondering what had become of her, whether she was even still alive. May she rest in peace.
Love and blessings to her family and especially to Moira.

Miss Harris was my History and English teacher during my time at Dio (finished 1996). She had a passion for teaching and instilled in me a love of learning and study - she had a real talent for imparting knowledge. She was of course terrifying but we loved her. RIP Miss Harris.

Miss Harris was my English and History teacher for 3 years in 1977-1979. She was a talented teacher who had a very real talent to teach. She instilled in me a love of history and appreciation of Shakespeare which she had a huge talent of explaining it from being initially very bland and boring, to understanding Shakespeare's interpretations.
I also remember her being very stylish and also very kind. She is definitely someone that I've always looked up to as an example of a wise and wonderful woman.
