I was extremely lucky when I took over the position of principal of Cambridge East school to have inherited a top-class Board of Trustees which was led by Gordon. All were well liked by the staff and parent body of the school and were of a calibre unequalled in most other schools; they knew the difference between governance and management and were aware of changing trends in education. My sincerest condolences to Lois and the family!

A good mate through our days in scouts and rugby. Always the positive one, always with a sense of humour. Although living a distance away from each other for the past 50 years or so we never lost contact. You will always be a Cantabrian Gordon. Will miss our catch ups. Go well my good mate
