Spaghetti Joe - Family of Late Gordon Heard remember him well and with love. Joe and our dad were good friend's in 1960's early 70's. Both owned Retail Store's in the same block in Murupara. Joe, a man larger than life it's self. A fine gentleman always dressed impeccably and very kind, with a new idea on how to make the world a more interesting place everyday. A real Entrepreneur's heart. Dad and Joe spent many hours leaning on their broom's out front of their store's after sweeping the path - a daily ritual, discussing life. As children we always thought it such great fun that our Dental Nurse from our school married this man we knew. Their romance was such fun gossip at school - small towns. Such fine people. Our condolences go to this great entrepreneurial man's family. May Joe rest in peace with our God.

Sending all our love and condolences to your whanau Joe for the loss of a wonderful father and Nono. May your tamariki and mokopuna find strength in the love you showered them with and the beautiful memories that you weaved throughout their lives. May you be wrapped in Gods eternal love and may you now be reunited with your loved ones who have passed before you. I hope you get to have a few games of Scopa and Tressette with Ottavio and Ugo and no table talk. RIP my dear friend arohanui from Jill and my girls Rosanna and Arihia

A living treasure has been lost- a giant kauri has fallen. Joe loved people and loved Hamilton with passion- even when for many years council refused to understand his dream to give the community cafe culture in Garden Place and Hamilton, which we now take for granted.
Joe spent his own money putting forward community redevelopment of Garden Place in the 1990s. He called together all the cultural groups and layers of Hamilton society to try and put a token of their homes into Garden Place and make it vibrant. Joe never gave up fighting for a better Hamilton and a more inclusive society. Joe welcomed all people like a long lost friend, and was much loved by many.
His beloved Italian cafe Gelato Arlecchino in Garden Place was iconic- the only warm place in the centre of Hamilton for years with cappucino and slices of pizza with a warm Italian hug!
Giuseppe was the unofficial Italian ambassador of the Waikato and the man who welcomed everyone to Hamilton.

Dear Family of Joe, I acknowledge the enthusiasm Joe showed in sharing his Italian culture with our community of Hamilton from the time we arrived in 1988, through to the time you made pasta and Italian classics at the Melville High School night classes over a decade ago. I personally enjoyed Joe's love of life and his generous nature, sense of humour, wellbeing and love of coffee.
These memories last forever.

Joe, your cheeky smile, your suave nature and your big, passionate, authentic heart, lit up the corridors at Hamilton City Council and beyond! This little Greek girl from Melbourne will never, ever forget you bursting into a Dean Martin song in those corridors and how you made my heart smile. Big Greek love and strength to your big, beautiful family. Amore. ❤❤❤❤
