Committee Whiritoa Lifeguard Service
March 3, 2021
George Vickers, past president and pillar of Whiritoa Surf Club, passed away 11 February 2021. He is remembered as a great man, a doer, bringing to life initiatives beneficial to Whiritoa Lifeguard Service. Junior Surf members may remember him for always treating them to an ice cream after swim training. We would also like to recognise his wife Delsie (passed away 14 January 2021) for her contribution to the club as well, a facilitator of Miss Whiritoa, and other social events.

So sorry for your loss.I will always be grateful for Colin attending to my Mum Jan and George taking my sister Michelle and I on the morning my brother Brett passed away in the Schoolhouse in 1970. He was very kind to us both and I will always remember it. He had a very full life. RIP.

Truly one of life's great gentlemen. A great leader for me during my time with the Whiritoa Surf Life Saving Club. Together we established the culture of a nascent club which is today, still guarding the beach for the safety of swimmers. It was a pleasure to be able to talk with him at Del's funeral just a few weeks ago. Alas I will miss his funeral as I have transport problems from Muriwai. However it won't be difficult for me to imagine you all at St Andrew's. Much aroha to Kevin and Michelle and their families.
