It was with shock that I learnt of George's death when I attended a function at Wintec on Friday. I had hoped to get to funeral from Whangamata but couldnt do so. George was a great member of the Wintec communication team and it was a privilege to have been his manager. He was a loyal, caring guy who had a great sense of humour and a great sense of family. He will be missed by many. My condolences to family

Sad that you're now gone, George. Remember the times we were teaching together at Wintec. I'm sure you're being looked after now in the afterlife. Smile as you did. Cheers mate.

We were so sorry to hear about George´s early & unexpected passing. He was a marvellous colleague, teacher and academic leader in the Communication dept at Wintec. His ethics guided his decisions & he was always thoughtful and measured with advice for anyone who sought it. We admired his long-standing advocacy and hands-on work for our gullies & environment. George loved his family and spoke of his children´s activities and achievements with pride. He had some familiar, humorous sayings that we still use & was a treasure who will be sadly missed.
