Dear Greg and Mylise.
My sincere condolences on the passing of your mother and mother-in-law.
She was a lovely lady and a true friend and mentor to her deaf students, including my sister, Shelley (she let me know about Elaine).
I know it has been a long time since we last had contact. I live out towards Kawhia and still working part-time with regular trips to Auckland. Would love to catch up some time.

Thank you, Elaine, for providing D/deaf students, including myself, with opportunities to gain real work experience and participate in social activities, such as community beach weekends, throughout our years at Melville Intermediate and High School in Hamilton.

Elaine showed empathy to many D/deaf students, including myself, by serving as a mentor and guide in and outside the classroom. She encouraged us to make positive choices and helped us overcome barriers to inclusion due to ableism in the community.

Her positive energy and laughter created a supportive environment, allowing us to share experiences with other students without feeling pitied.

Once again, thank you, Elaine. We missed you, but we will not forget you, your graceful heart, honesty, cheerfulness, and deep empathy for many D/deaf students.
