Edward "Ted" THURSTON

Edward THURSTON Obituary

Sunrise 6 July 1940 -
Sunset 18 March 2026
Ted was the beloved husband of Rosalie, sharing almost 60 years of marriage. He was a deeply loved father to Yvette and her husband Robert, and to the late Michael and Rhonda, and a cherished dad to Claire and Kevin. He was a proud and devoted Poppa to Daniel, John, Callum, Isla and Sean, each of whom held a very special place in his heart. Ted was a treasured brother, uncle and cousin, and a loyal mate - whether hunting, fishing, collecting firewood or sharing a yarn. A passionate and hardworking bushman, Ted spent much of his life in the sawmill and forestry industries, work he was proud of and that shaped who he was. He was known for his strong work ethic, generosity of spirit, and love of the land. We will come together to celebrate Ted's life at the Rangiura Home Hall, 16 Matai Crescent, Putāruru on Monday, 23rd March 2026, at 1.30pm, followed by the interment at The Putaruru Domain Road Cemetery. Donations to Putaruru St John would be appreciated and may be left at the service.
