TE TŌANGA O TE RĀ:
28 o Maehe 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doris "Irene", who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving whānau, aged 97 years. Devoted mother of Lynnette Te Ruki, Wayne Te Ruki, George Te Ruki, Gary (Chic) Te Ruki, Massey Te Ruki and Lloyd Te Ruki. A much-loved grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, cherished aunty, and friend to many. To all who knew her, she was "Aunty Doris", "Old Nan", and "Nanny Whaene". She will be forever remembered as Te Puhi o Unu.
E moe e ruhi.
He aitua, he aitua!
Kua hinga Te Puhi o Unu!
Tangi kau ana a Unu i te rirotanga atu o tōna Puhi!
A Tungi to celebrate Doris' life will be held at Te Kōpua Marae, Morgan Road, Pokuru, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026 at 11:00am, followed by burial at the Te Awamutu Lawn Cemetery, where she will return to her beloved husband, Alan Walters.
NGĀ WHAKARITENGA:
To celebrate Nan's life, whānau and friends are asked to wear their brightest coloured kākāhu (clothing). She loved flowers and vibrant colours and often said, "no black at my tangi please."
Kua horo te tihi o Kakepuku, kua horo Hikurangi-pā-tirohia, kua horo Ariki-tīrere, ka horo…
ka horo…
