Passed away peacefully at Waipuna Hospice, Tauranga, on November 19, 2025. Adored partner of Barbz, dad of Lynn, Sara, and Jane, grandad to 7 and great-grandad to 3. Ex-husband of Doreen. A farewell will be held at Te Puna Quarry Park on Wednesday, November 26 at 1.30pm.
"You will be missed".

Derek was my woodwork teacher at melville high in the 1970's. He had a great sense of humour. He was the best wood worker on the planet, his passion for creating from wood totally unmatched. My condolences to you all. ( Lynn & sara were each at different times in my class at melville.)

I remember a woodwork teacher with a sense of humor. Good at teaching especially in a way that I can still remember some of his comments more than 50 years later. I knew him at Melville Hogh School.
