Oh my dear Bunny Walters, we went to school together at Katikati Primary. You were a lovely fella, we were good friends and certainly got up to some mischief at school. I am saddened by learning of your passing, heaven has a new angel. I will always remember you. RIP sweet man.

Kia ora to the whanau of Mr Bunny Walters, I grew up listening to this 'dude' back in his prime, he had the voice & for a Polynesia check listening to an awesome Maori guy whose music me an impact really made appreciate his talent up there with other Maori greats. Every time one of his songs came on ' you just had to sing along lol thank you Mr Walters for all the great memories that your songs provided coz I knew exactly where I was and how old I was when I hear your songs - great memories. Safe journey to the heavens & keeping belting out those
tunes dude. Monuina fenoga

Very sorry to hear of Bunny's passing. My sincere sympathy to all his Whanau.
I knew Bunny for many years, and ran his Fan Club for him.
i think the the first time he sang "Brandy" was in the EMI lunch room in Queen St, Auckland, where I worked. He sang along to a tape he had of the song, and even then drew a crowd.
When Bunny bought his MG sports car, he took me for a spin, with my friend Elaine, lying across the rear window, behind Bunny and I. He wouldn't have got away with that today. Fun times!
We went collecting mussels at Whatipu Beach. While we were at the beach, the inspector came along, to check how many mussels people were taking. There were a couple of Maori guys further down in front of us. When they saw the inspector, they left their sack, and took off.
The inspector asked Bunny who the sack belonged to, and with out any hesitation, he said that a couple of pakeha guys had left it, and run off, and then sent the inspector in the opposite direct to where the Maori guys had headed.
Bunny was a real gentleman, with an infectious smile, and a real talent, and will be greatly missed.

I grew up in the 70's being entertained by Bunny Walters, a group of "one of a kind". Now you are entertaining in the Kingdom!

It is with sadness in our hearts, I write, but it is also with gratitude, for the hours you spent with Bob in his struggle with Dementia.
