I have just found Barrie's obituary. Condolences to his family, albeit a little late. Going until he was 94 was a great innings!
Barrie was an extremely able and well liked shepherd for my Dad for a couple of years around 1954. Dad managed Reeves' Waingaromia Station (3356 Tauwhareparae Road, Tolaga Bay) from1952 to 1962. Barrie was regarded as a friend rather than an employee by Mum and Dad. I was only about 5 at the time (1954 approx.) but I can still remember him quite well. I also know he went on to be very successful as a farmer and dog trialer. The attached photo is of my brother with Barrie on his foal. He put both of us on it and this was great fun. I am writing a Tauwhareparae history and would welcome contact with any of Barrie's [email protected],. Regards

Condolences to his family. We remember and admire his and Margaret´s friendship, community spirit and work ethic. A champion dog trialer. The story of Ben winning NZ hunt away title after falling into a deep tomo and badly breaking his leg. Barry rehabilitated him by swimming him in a river pool on the farm many times. A keen sportsman. Barry´s eyebrows going up and down while playing cards.
