Baggy HILLIS Obituary

HILLIS, Baggy (Brian Lamont) (Rotary PHF). - On 22nd June, 2014, after a short illness. Aged 77 years. Dearly loved husband of Valda and much loved father and father-in-law of Brian and Jenny, Paul and Julie and Wayne and Vanessa. Former husband of Imelda. A loved Gugga of Christopher, Patrick, Ashley, Rebecca, Aimee, Michael, Simone, Kurt and great Gugga to Caleb and Cody. "Last time over the Great Northern Hill, Baggs".
- A celebration of Baggy's life will be held at the Matamata Racecourse, Epsom Lounge, State Highway 27, Hinuera, on Friday, 27th June, at 1.30pm, followed by private cremation. Donations in lieu of flowers are welcome for the Matamata St. John Ambulance and may be left at the service or posted to PO Box 159, Matamata 3440. Special thanks are extended to all the staff on Ward A4 at Waikato Hospital for all their love and care of Baggs. Firstly I would like to give my condolences to Brian's family.
I worked in Takanini, for Cliff Fenwick, many years ago and dealt with Brian numerous times.
"Baggy" you were the spirit and the life of racing, a true legend. I just loved your carefree and fun attitude towards life.
You will be sadly missed but your legacy will never be forgotten.
Rest In Peace mate.

"Jumping Joe" - he was a legend Baggy, as you were too!!! Thanks for always looking after our families horses in your care and bringing our the best in them - Wins!!! You were always happy & chipper when you saw us. Many a horse from your stable was spelled at the farm. Baggy, you have run your last race race.
