Athol passed peacefully at Linda Jones Care Centre on Wednesday 26 May 2021. Beloved husband of the late Aly. Much loved father and father-in-law of Don, Joy & Rob Gillard, Pat & Dave Armstrong. Loved and respected Poppa of 7 grandchildren and Great-Poppa of 16 great-grandchildren. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at the Care Centre of Linda Jones Retirement Home, Oncology Unit Waikato Hospital, Hospice, Vision West and Tui Medical Te Rapa for your concern, compassion, and expertise in your chosen professions. A celebration of Athol's life will be held at Scots Presbyterian Church, 32 Vardon Road, Hamilton, on Tuesday 1 June 2021 at 11.00am. In preference to flowers, a donation to Hospice Waikato would be appreciated. All communications to the Hemming Family, c/- PO Box 4449, Hamilton 3247.

Dear Joy and family. I was very sorry to hear of your Dads passing. I will always remember his smile and the lovely conversations I have had with him.
He was one of life's gentlemen and reminded me so much of my Dad.

HEMMING, Athol Elston:

The garden gate at 138B has closed. On 26th May at 2.30pm Athol retired to his final resting place to be with Mum. My darling Dad, father-in-law to Rob, Poppa to Brett & Ruth, Paulette & Justin, and Penni & Sandy. Great-Poppa to Jackson, Fletcher, Cater, Nick & Ady, Charley, Ethan, Marshall, and Emmet.
An inspiration to us all in the way you lived your life with such positiveness and drive.
