Ann CHERRINGTON Obituary
A very proud Registered Nurse; former Nurse Editor of Kai Tiaki; and former KCDC Councillor. Of Paraparaumu, formerly of Wellington. On Friday 15 February 2019, peacefully at Wellington Hospital, with family at her side. Aged 90 years. Much loved wife of the late Peter. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Mark & Janene (Sydney), Tim & Jeanie (Sydney), and Sue & Bruce (Te Horo). Loved Grandma to Claire and Emma; Georgia, Madelaine, Grace and Lachlan; and Michael. Dearest friend of Sue Burrell. Special thanks to the staff at Sevenoaks Retirement Village and Ward 7 North Wellington Hospital, for their love and care of Ann. A celebration of Ann's life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, 9-11 Hinemoa Street, Paraparaumu, on Saturday 23 February 2019 at 2.00pm, thereafter private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann's memory to the Wellington Free Ambulance, PO Box 601, Wellington 6140, would be appreciated and may be left at her service. I am so sorry that I was away at the time of Ann's passing and could not express my sympathy to you in person. Ann was a stalwart source of advice and encouragement during my time as National President, New Zealand Nurses Association, and we had the added pleasure in having both trained at the Auckland School of Nursing. She was a very special person and the whole profession is grateful to you for the years you shared her with us.
Please pass this message on to Sue Burrell, her inseparable friend over so many years.

I am so sorry I was out of New Zealand at the time of Ann's passing so was unable to express my thoughts in person. She was a great stalwart during my time as National President, NZNA, and we shared huge pride in our training school. She always brought a solid dose of commonsense and compassion to all our endeavours. Thank you for the years you shared her with us. Please pass on this message to Sue Burrell.
