I came across Alan only occasionally, but every time was filled with great respect for his genuine care, always helping people & the environment in his warm & gracious way. I first met him at the Hamilton Peace Centre 30 years ago. Later, as Chaplain at Waikato Hospital, he shared a prayer as my husband Tony lay in a coma. More recently he attended Tui 2000 meetings & he reported progress of the Pukemokemoke Care Group. My thoughts are with you.

Alan and I entered the Methodist ministry from the same parish in Auckland. His ability to reach out to all with gentle compassion and perception affected me often in those early years and his friendship was there for many. He has remained true to his vision. Aroha to Muriel and Alan's family. Roy Bowden

I knew Alan when he was at the Methodist Centre. I was in the Peace Centre and in Hamilton Corso and he was often around quietly, cheerfully, supportive. I went tramping with him once or twice. A lovely man I am thankful to have to have known him.

Saddened to read of the passing of Alan - truly one of the community's battlers for those who struggle. A really great Chaplain at Waikato Hospital where he greeted everyone with a smile and comforting manner. He will be missed by our community.
