Carol BRODIE Obituary

CAROL ELIZABETH BRODIE (nee Hassall) With love and sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Carol Elizabeth Brodie (nee Hassall), on November 1, 2023 in her 92nd year. Carol is survived by her husband Douglas; and her children Jim Brodie (Cecilia), Jane Nimigon (Paul), Marion Ferguson (Ian), and Paul Brodie (Chrystal); eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Carol was the youngest of four sisters. (Mildred, Vivian, and Joan) Mom's sparkling personality and her mischievous wit always made her fun to be with. She cared deeply for all her family and was always generous and supportive. Carol was a very active volunteer in Stouffville, where she and Doug resided for over sixty years. Whether leading an impromptu singalong or helping at Sick Kids, sharing herself with others brought her joy. A strong sense of love will live on in her children and grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at at a later date. In memory of Carol, please consider a donation to your local food bank.

I am very honored to have known Carol Brodie, lovingly known to me as Aunt Carol. She and her sisters brought lots of cheer to all the family gatherings over the years. She was a kind and outgoing woman, and her sense of humour kept everyone chuckling. I remember when I had just started dating her nephew John, the Hassall sisters and their families were at 25 Warlock Cres and it was Christmas Day evening. I heard that I just missed Aunt Carol's rendition of Queen Elizabeth giving her Christmas Day speech. I found a couple of photos in my special photo box, one from someone's wedding (maybe Anne's?) and one from Christmas Day at The Granite Club. We were invited as guests that year. My daughter Sarah is sitting on Aunt Carol's lap. Thank you Aunt Carol and our love to you, John (deceased March 2023), Sarah, David and Barb Burrell

Mrs Brodie, was a fun loving neighbour. Many times she had my son Bowen over to help her with yard clean up and chores around her house. Since Dr. Brodie and Mrs. Brodie left our street it hasn´t been the same. Our condolences to Dr Brodie and family.

Carol was a wonderful person with a engaging personality. We would cross paths in Stouffville many times and always had a great chat about her children. She loved you all dearly. I also met her on the go train coming back to Stouffville from her volunteer work at Sick Kids several times. What a treasure she was to so many children their. A life to celebrate which I´m sure you´ll do to honour her.

From my early years, I recall cousin Carol and her sisters visiting from Toronto my family (Harry and Gladys Hassall) on First Line (Cawthra Road).Cooksville. Carol was always witty and fun loving.
We send our sympathy to Doug and family.
