Rest Easy Uncle Merv. Dad (Dave) and I talked of you often. As clear as yesterday, I can see you out at the farm scooping a multitude of bees out of the pool in 1975 - jus so I could have a swim. Turned out the water was freezing cold and your efforts were wasted - although fondly remembered.
As a Catalina Wireless Operator, 5SQN RNZAF in WW2, Uncle Mervyn was the SQN's oldest living member. I had the honour of working alongside 5SQN in the Middle East in 2017-18 and they all knew of him. He was a legend in their eyes - as In sure he was to many others. Being his great nephew gave me instant credibility amongst my Kiwi brethren.
Always in our hearts - David and Jonathan.
